Louis Tomlinson’s Creative Fix at Glastonbury Festival

Louis Tomlinson won’t let anything get in between him and a big game. On Sunday, June 30, the former One Direction member set up a TV at Glastonbury Festival to watch England play against Slovakia in the UEFA European Football Championship. While the festival has streamed games in the past, this year they decided not to, to avoid clashing with headlining sets.

Creative Solution for Soccer Fans

Louis Tomlinson took matters into his own hands when he realized the festival wouldn’t be streaming the game. According to The Guardian, he left the festival on Sunday morning to purchase a TV, generator, and a dongle to create a hotspot from his phone. The “Kill My Mind” singer set up the TV so that other festival-goers could also watch the game. His sister Lottie shared videos of their setup, showing the TV securely taped to a stand with the stand’s legs placed in a bucket of rocks for stability.

Shared Joy over Victory

Videos shared by Lottie captured the crowd’s excitement as England won the game in overtime. Tomlinson told BBC Somerset, “We brought a TV in, very Glasto, in some stones and a little stand. It was a little bit of touch and go at times because the signal kept going in and out, but luckily, we got there, and we pulled it off.” This innovative setup provided an unexpected opportunity for festival-goers to enjoy the important match.

Reflecting on the Festival Experience

On Monday, July 1, Tomlinson reflected on his experience at the festival on X (formerly known as Twitter). “What an amazing 5 days! Thank you, @glastonbury, for the memories!” he wrote. This year’s festival was headlined by stars like Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA. Other performers included Cyndi Lauper, Shania Twain, Janelle Monáe, Camila Cabello, and Avril Lavigne.

Louis Tomlinson’s determination to watch the soccer game despite the challenges showcases his passion for the sport and his ability to find creative solutions. This story will certainly be remembered as one of the unique highlights of this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
