Initial Symptoms and Hospitalization
Foxx explained that the ordeal began with a severe headache. He asked a friend for an Advil, and then, as Foxx put it, “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.” His sister and daughter rushed him to the hospital, where he received a cortisone shot. Doctors indicated that “something’s going on up there,” but Foxx chose not to disclose further details on camera.
Daughter’s Statement
On April 12, 2023, Foxx’s daughter, Corrine, posted on Instagram about her father’s medical complication. She credited the quick action and excellent care for his recovery progress. Corrine also requested privacy during this challenging time and expressed the family’s gratitude for the fans’ prayers and support. At the time, Foxx was in Atlanta filming the Netflix action comedy “Back in Action” with Cameron Diaz.
Impact on His Career
While Foxx was hospitalized, production on “Back in Action” continued. He was temporarily replaced as the host of the Fox game show “Beat Shazam.” Last summer, Foxx took to social media to share that he had gone through something he never expected. He expressed that he did not want fans to see him in a weakened state, preferring they see him laughing and in good spirits.
Future Plans for Explanation
At an African American Film Critics Association luncheon, Foxx hinted at plans to explain his medical emergency in a special format. “Everyone wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened. But I’ve got to do it in my way,” Foxx said. “It’s going to be funny, and we’re going to get back to the standup roots.”
Jamie Foxx’s return to the public eye and his plans to share his story with humor demonstrate his resilience and positive outlook. Fans are eager to learn more about his experience and see him back in action.
