Hote Raluca Daiana Ligia: Engineering the Future of Robotics and Public Health

Hote Raluca Daiana Ligia. Hote Raluca Daiana Ligia is a robotics and AI engineer whose work aims to address urgent public health challenges and improve industrial efficiency through advanced technology. A key achievement in her career is the BALTO disinfection robot, which was developed as a public health response during the COVID-19 pandemic. BALTO’s ability to autonomously disinfect high-traffic areas has demonstrated the power of robotics in mitigating virus transmission, providing a vital tool to enhance safety in public spaces. Hote’s ongoing dedication to this field highlights her commitment to creating practical, life-improving solutions that reflect the innovative potential of robotics and AI

Early Career Achievements

Currently residing in the United States, Hote Raluca holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mechatronics and robotics engineering from the prestigious Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania and was acknowledged for her achievements at the institution. She started her career with a passion for robotics, which led to her tenure at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in Stuttgart, Germany. In this role, Hote Raluca contributed to impactful research projects, one of which included the development of the BALTO disinfection robot.

Initial Challenges and Exciting Results

Developing BALTO was a major challenge for Hote Raluca, but she persisted through the tight deadlines brought on by the pandemic. She worked to create a collaborative environment with her team and applied her particular design expertise with Autodesk Inventor and 3D printing, successfully devising and implementing solutions under pressure.

The BALTO disinfection robot was developed during the outbreak of the pandemic, and it emerged as a perfect solution. BALTO autonomously disinfects surfaces to significantly reduce virus transmission in high-traffic areas. Working on this project, Hote Raluca demonstrated both her technical acumen and a commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefit.

“My inspiration to work in robotics and technology arises from a profound desire to develop solutions that enhance public health and optimize industrial processes,” Hote Raluca explained. “[Other] projects such as the AI Garden, which facilitated language learning for industry workers, and the Grand Scenario project, which integrated IoT and voice recognition to streamline assembly processes, reflect my dedication to innovative problem-solving.”

Consulting and Brand Expansion Efforts

Currently, Hote Raluca has launched the Liga Hote Robotics consulting business, a project that has solidified her global influence in robotics, exoskeleton technology, and AI. In addition, she also works to expand BALTO’s operations in North America. Her efforts have garnered her recognition as a thought leader in her field, a position that she uses to mentor emerging engineers and share insights at global tech conferences.

“Throughout my journey,” Hote Raluca said, “I’ve learned that continuous learning and the power of technology are key to driving change. My advice to others is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain curious and open to innovative ideas.”

A Leader for the Future of Robotics

From an initial interest in robotics and emerging AI technology, Hote Raluca has built an exciting career and positioned herself as a leader in her field. She serves as an inspiration, illustrating the power of resilience, collaboration, and continuous learning to those around her. With an emphasis on using technology to make a tangible difference in society, Hote Raluca is shaping the future of robotics and public health.
