An Unexpected Encounter
During his performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend music festival, Chris Martin was heading to the artist’s area when he saw a woman leaning against a fence. The woman, Saundra Glenn, was taking a break on her way to the box office to get an accessibility ticket. She suffers from osteoarthritis and has a problematic right hip, making it difficult for her to walk long distances.
A Ride with the Star
Glenn told the BBC that she had initially planned to watch the concert on television and hadn’t intended to attend the festival. But when a car pulled up next to her and a woman inside offered her a lift, she hesitated. When the door opened, and she saw Chris Martin, she couldn’t believe it. “I said, ‘Oh, that’s Chris Martin, I can’t get in with him,’ and they said, ‘Yes, you can'”, she recalled.
An Unforgettable Moment
In the car, Glenn and Martin chatted as if they were “two old friends,” as she put it. She joked that the ride with Martin alone was worth the price of admission. Upon arriving at the artist’s area, Martin ensured a golf cart was arranged to take Glenn to the box office, a gesture that deeply touched her.
Another Act of Kindness
Chris Martin is renowned for his considerate actions towards fans. In December, he helped an Irish fan in a wheelchair who crowd-surfed to the front row by inviting him on stage. Martin handed the fan a harmonica, and they performed a duet together. These gestures highlight Martin’s appreciation for his fans and his constant efforts to create memorable moments for them.
Chris Martin’s encounter with Saundra Glenn exemplifies not only his generosity, but also his ability to enhance his fans’ lives. Such stories contribute to his reputation as one of the kindest and most approachable stars in the music industry.
