Before AI chatbots got popular, most people were only coding manually, writing all the lines of code that you can imagine. Times have changed, and you can do a large part of your coding work with the help of AI. If there were old generation no-code solutions before, there are coding solutions that even the very beginners can use, because of how simple LLMs have made those basic coding tasks. And there are also new no-code solutions that help to write applications, web apps and websites in a couple of clicks, all with the help of AI.
Let’s say you want an AI coding assistant to help with Python, or some code AI to do Java / Javascript. Maybe, you just need to write some HTML for your website.
In this article, I will review four AI solutions for coding, some of them are niche and limited, but fast and popular, others are also quite well-known, but combine different features of multiple AI models.
GPT and Claude Sonnet: Getting the Basics
If you want to use a default AI chatbot for coding, use GPT4o. For most daily uses, it is quite enough, provided you have an active subscription for this OpenAI LLM. If you don’t, you will very soon hit the limit.
The same goes for Claude, a beautiful chatbot that focuses on ethical AI use and helps in many daily tasks, particularly in studying basic coding, learning and teaching methods. In regards to coding, Claude (both in its own chatbot and when integrated into other tools) supports that will help you to code faster and better. More information about this feature can be found here:
But those two chatbots are limited for coding, because they propose only one LLM to use, and for such a technical task, you may want to try multiple, and to switch between AI models effortlessly. Claude 3.5 Sonnet is good for coding, and so is GPT AI for coding, but I want to show you a couple of other tools.
Pricing of One-Model Chatbots
For GPT 4o it is $20 to $200 a month. Those subscriptions let you use that decent AI model with much less limits and to generate DALLE-3 images, which is not essential for coding, and they are often quite generic and boring. Better use Stable Diffusion or Flux, but code with text-generating models 😊
What about Claude pricing in 2025? It is similar, 18$ a month for a less limited version, Pro. Gemini Advanced is almost the same, and if you want to keep multiple subscriptions for coding, you need to pay quite a sum of money.
Switch Between AI Models and Code With Best LLMs
What about an option that combines all the best AI models in one tool? There are chatbots that let you access one and only AI model (LLM). But there is also a chatbot of another kind, where you can switch from one AI to another. Start writing with GPT, and then continue with Claude. By the way, Claude Artifacts are also included right here, so you may use it for daily coding.
As a bonus, in a second, you can generate an image with DALLE-3 or Flux.1 in the same chat, then solve some more hardcore coding with OpenAI’s o1, and finalize your code with Gemini. There is no need to bring your API keys, it works from a single 20 dollar subscription. If you want to see how it works, you can try it for free.
A feature that is useful to me and I think to any coder, is Side-by-side AI Model Comparison. I was surprised to learn that ChatLabs lets you compare models side by side on your exact tasks, and to compare AI in real time. But how?
You can use Split Screen AI Comparison by
- Logging into ChatLabs
- Selecting this option from the left menu.
- Then, you set two models that you choose, write a prompt to work on, and see how well they perform against each other, side by side.
ChatLabs also includes no-code app builder, and I will write more about it below, in a No-Code AI Builder section. Now, let’s see some other alternatives.
Coding Assistants: Code Faster with Niche AI Tools
There are at least four coding assistants that are worth mentioning here. They are:
- ai
- Windsurf
- GitHub Copilot
- Replit
If you know how to code, those four tools will let you code ten times faster than you would in a fully manual way. But to code fast with those assistants, you really need to have coding skills. Then, you will understand how to improve your workflow and do so in less time.
Those are not the assistants for those who do not know how to code. If you are not a coder, find another option and do not waste time on those four, regardless of how useful they are for “real” coders.
As for pricing of AI Coding Assistants, to get consistent results and use it daily, you will usually need a subscription that costs in between $10-$50, depending on configuration.
No-code App Builders: Code Well Without Writing a Single Line
Let’s say you want to create an app, or a game, or just a website. You have a brilliant idea, but you do not know how to code. There is a solution to that. I have already mentioned ChatLabs, and it has a separate tool that is used by enthusiasts in dozens of branches. No-code AI builder by ChatLabs lets you write your idea in a simple human language and receive a code that you can use in your website, or in a game environment, or in a coding app.
Conclusion
There are various kinds of tools that help with coding, and understanding AI engineering will help you code ten or twenty times faster. It is 2025 already, so why code everything manually? 😉
AI code writers may be simple chatbots like GPT4o, or toolboxes with multiple AI models like what ChatLabs offers; or it may be a no-code builder that focuses just on that. And if you already have a good understanding of coding, you can just use any coding assistant I mentioned in the article. If you are a complete newbie in code, you need an AI code assistant and you can’t really write code without such an AI coder, then consider ChatLabs and No-code app builder.
